Bylinen curtain studio - How to measure and install your roman blinds
How to measure the window for roman blinds inside the window niche.
A is the width of the roman blind
Measure the distance on the inside of the window niche where you want the curtain to sit. Sometimes on older windows, the measurements can differ at the top and bottom of the window, so measure the top edge where the rail of the lift curtain is to be attached. Measure the width of the window inside the window frame and always round down so that the lift curtain fits safely inside the frame without touching the walls. Keep in mind that if you want the roman blind inside the window niche, the window should preferably open outwards.
B is the length of the roman blind
Measure the height of the window from the top (on the inside of the niche) to the bottom of the window frame or window sill. We recommend that you deduct 0.5 cm from the length so that the curtain does not run against the windowsill in the fully lowered position.
How to measure the window for roman blinds on the outside of the window frame
A is the width of the roman blind
Measure how wide you want the roman blind to be. We recommend that you adapt the width of the roman blind to the width of the window lining. If the window lacks moldings, the lift curtain should go a couple of centimeters outside the window niche on each side. Then you avoid a gap between the niche and the curtain and that the curtain looks too narrow.
B is the length of the roman blind
Measure the length of how far down you want the roman blind to go. Measure the height of the window from the top where you want to attach the roman blind to the bottom of the window frame or window sill. We recommend that you deduct 0.5 cm from the length so that the curtain does not run against the windowsill in the fully lowered position.
